Hi Everyone

I'm having issues with my cage at the moment, this is a picture of our setup:

Except that the cage now has a mezzanine floor:

The cage on the table is where they sleep and spend quite a lot of time but they do go in the run underneath the table quite a bit too for a change of scenery. The cage is 4ft by 2 ft and the run is 3ft sq so there isn't much difference in size. The boys come out almost every evening for an hour or more's floor time in the living room with us too.

Anyway, the cage is akward to clean and to get into since we put the mezzanine is as we can't open one of the doors and I'm also not happy about the size of it now that my boys are bigger I feel I want to give them more space as they are very boisterous!

We did say that we would build them a C & C in the new year but money is a bit tight at the moment and I'm not sure we will be able to afford all of the materials. :red

From looking at the pictures, do you think there is a way of improving their setup, making it easier to access for us and providing more space for them by using what we already have? We do have a couple of small pieces of correx in the shed and my Dad is very handy so can do a little DIY if I bribe him with lager and hugs from his only daughter, :))

Any ideas would be hugely appreciated, sorry for rambling on

Could you make a second level in the run to add a bit more interest? Or pop the cage on the floor and attach the run to it so that they can come and go as they please?

I'm thinking the same as Mackers, put the cage on the floor and let them use the cage for hay and the run for play.

Or since it's in a corner you could "open up" the run and use it for two sides (and the walls as the other two). Voila, instant double size run. I've made a "cage" in a corner with two ottomans and a hamster run blocking the open sides. I have a dropcloth on the floor topped by towels and fleece. It was an increadibly cheap way of making a large living area for the piggies

you can't really see the ottomans here... but they're out of sight to the left.

Thanks for the replies.

Srikopanik, I did actually show my partner the photo's of your "cage" and he was quite impressed with it as am I.

I think I would quite like to incorporate their current cage as it was quite expensive, so maybe put that on the floor with a ramp and then use the run around it and the walls to make a larger space for them....hmm.... it's food for thought anyway so THANK YOU very much for the replies.

I think we over complicate things. LOL
