I was holding my guinea pig and noticed that her is slightly red on the border from where it goes from black to white. I called the vet and they obviously can't see without looking, but they said it may be the start of an eye infection. Is it serious? She is moving around fine seems to see fine, and is eating like crazy as usual. I just get worried as guinea pigs are sensitive when it comes to illnesses. She is 3 and a half and in general has been very strong.

My boy Finn was prescribed Terramycin by Dr, Jayne for his eye infection before. He healed pretty quickly. I ended up with bloody fingers from him biting me while applying the gel in his eye, but Finn was fine after a week.

I would take her to be seen by a doctor.

I noticed my other pig had it in both her eyes to. Was it conjunctivitis?

Have you made an appointment with the vet for the eyes to be checked?
That is the only way to know what is going on and to get the correct treatment where necessary
Eyea are considered urgent and any issues with them do need to be seen by a vet quickly

When Dr. Jayne prescribed Finn his medication, Terramycin, his doctor did mention something, which I forgot what she said.
I would either have to make a call to the doctor‘s office, or go through their doctor visits notes to find exactly what the doctor said Finn had.
