Morning.
PLEASE NOTE - I have seen a vet twice in the last two weeks. This isn't a substitute ask instead of seeking help. This is asking if any other GP owners have ever encountered this?

This is Brian. He is just 3 yrs old and has been really well up until approx 2 weeks ago. He developed a chest infection which was quite crackly. We went to the vets and she said his chest was bad so he had a course of antibiotics. He improved but we started to notice him exhibiting this behaviour. He tends to squeak softly before it happens and he seems to be trying to cough/vomit something up. Afterwards he seems to be quite rigid. Also noticed poor appetite and significant weight loss. Took him back again...chest better but she didn't know what was up. I asked whether it was something stuck in the throat but she couldn't see anything. She said we could try an x-ray to see if anything was amiss. At £270 I had to say no. We came away with a week of anti inflammatories this time. I'm syringing some food in and trying to look after him. But I don't think it looks good. Anybody have any ideas or have seen this before?

He might have something stuck in/on his teeth?
To be honest, the x-ray might be the only way to check if there's anything stuck that's bothering him, he'd probably need anaesthetic to remove it anyway.

Have they checked his back teeth? His symptoms are consistent with some dental problems, overgrown teeth, tongue stuck under these teeth etc. or some sort of lump/abscess in the throat.
Obviously this is just my thoughts on what you have described, but I do think it would be worth checking.

As he is losing weight, you need to step in with support feeding. You can make DIY support feed with your boys pellets.
You will find more about such in this guide - All About Syringe Feeding and Medicating Guinea Pigs with Videos and Pictures
