Any ideas on reinforcing this?

Hiya! This is probably in the wrong place I’m sorry, but hopefully this is close enough!

We’ve had the garden done now so that the guinea pigs + rabbit are able to run around pretty much this entire area (pictures attached). Anyway slight problem!

Yesterday I turned my back for about 5 minutes while I shoved a pizza in the oven, turned back around to find two little heads poking out behind the plant pots....turned out Holly and Bramble had wormed their way out of a non existing gap! The rabbit was watching like “seriously?”.

Anyway, as I have an injured arm right now I can’t really grab them quickly, luckily Dad was around to help out! Safe and sound!

I’m supervising today (I usually am outside or checking the window regliously...) but anyone got any ideas on how to reinforce this thing further? As you can see, it’s a lot of old runs made to form a barrier. I’ve “reinforced” the weak point temporarily by shoving a plant pot behind and the garden hose in front! There are other plant pots that’ll probably work better rather than the hose, but I can’t lift it by myself right now so will have to wait!

Either way, glad we got the garden done?!

Looks like a lovely space for your piggies to roam. It may be worth getting some bricks to prop up either side?

Oohhh, that sounds like a good idea! Will have to ask around and grab some. They’ve been out most days while it’s sunny and only yesterday they decided to escape!

Stacked bricks make good weights for things and a lot of people give a few away for free.

I am a piggy owner and I have a suggestion. Why don’t you give them some of the grass? Or playtime on the grass? My guinea pigs live in my garden on grass, and they love it. They spend all day eating and playing. It is very fun to watch.

They do go on the grass, pretty often! The issue was that the guinea pigs kept finding little gaps to escape out of, so I was asking for opinions on how to strengthen the current fence I have to prevent anymore escapes. At the moment, I was a bit concerned they kept getting out despite whatever I could find to use to enforce it - I have an injured arm and can’t move as fast to grab them, you see! But they do spend a lot of time out on that patch of grass :)

Since this thread I’ve been building them a new fence, made from chicken wire. It’s almsot ready to go! I just need some bricks because we can’t hammer it into the grass, so we need something to stop them from getting underneath the fence now!
