Junior Guinea Pig
I'm 17 and in high school, currently unemployed, but trying to find an entry level job (so far I've been unlucky). I have 1 unneutered boar named Malcolm who's been on his own for nearly a year. My mother had rabbits when she was younger, however she had them at a time when exotic pets like guinea pigs and bunnies were kept in tiny, tiny cages and didn't get to do much outside sleep, eat, and poo. I've been trying to convince her to get a second piggie, neuter him, or buy a larger cage but so far it's been (no, you're spoiling him). I told her so many facts I've learned from various YouTube channels about guinea pigs and this forum but so far it's been "You're spoiling him/we're fine it's just going to add clutter" (his cage is in the living room so he gets to see the things going on in the house and the cat can approach him though he doesn't do much). So I've decided to take matters into my own hands, are there any tips for expanding his current cage? Like adding a second floor or fleece items? I've got basically no money, I get allowance from my mother but it's averaging $20 a month which is pretty much nothing. I dont know much DIY or have much materials- just some wood planks in the basement that I'm unsure will support his weight (As of typing this, he was weighed a few days ago at 1200g), however I'd really like to do something exciting with his cage, so he feels like he has a place to hide and sleep away from his hay.
EDIT: Darn I didn't see the images were flipped
