Hi. Its been a while since I've been here. This is about the same pig who had issues with hus teeth before. He is a senior pig I rescued 2 years ago. He is having a hard time getting poo out (staying tucked in and whatnot) and it is very small and stringy. (Gutstasis?)
He is loosing weight as well (in 48h) as his urine is running out uncontrolled and at times is ... bloody? He isn't as mobile today and feels limp. The vet said nearly 2 weeks ago that he has a clean bill of health but I just don't understand how this could happen so rapidly . Surely something was underlying that went unnoticed? Idk . Anyways so at this point I'm hand feeding (which he is eating himself as well. It's just an extra precaution) and I've read through similar posts and held off on giving anything other than cucumber (and a small piece of lettuce ) is there anything else I can do to make sure he's comfortable ? He had a hard life before he came to me and he is about 5ish now. I'm afraid this is nearly his end. I keep wishing I would've had the vet be more thorough and blaming myself.

My vet will not be in until Wednesday and I have called around with no luck of anyone else who sees guinea pigs . Small town living is great until things like this occur 😪

I’m afraid your best bet is the vet. Continue weighing daily to see how his weight is, and adjust the syringe feeding accordingly. You’re aiming for 60-90ml in a 24 hour period.

It also sounds like he has compaction if his poo is gathering in his sack. Are you helping by cleaning him out regularly?

Please stop feeding him veg and instead only syringe feed him fibre rich food such as a recovery feed (critical care for example) or mushed up pellets. if he is losing weight then he isn’t getting enough hay/fibre. Feeding veg will only cause further digestive imbalance.
weigh him daily so you know you are getting enough syringe feed into him. You are aiming for 60-90ml in a 24 hour period to prevent further weight loss and to keep his guts functioning.

please do keep trying to get to a vet. In the meantime, please read the guides below

Thanks for the help. He has went across the rainbow Bridge and we had a little family ceremony to honor his memory. 😭 Thanks again

I’m sorry for your loss ☹

I'm so sorry for your loss. He is at peace now. Sometimes it is just their time 😔
