I didn't go to my sister's wedding because I didn't trust anyone to look after them properly. I have a very panicky guinea pig. Now, on top of being panicky, said piggie has been sick for a few months and is on long-term pain meds that she has to be force fed three times a day. But my sister has had a baby, and it's already been a year and I haven't seen her.
I don't know anyone who is willing to even hold her.
I've thought of taking her on the plane (it's just to another state) but fear the noise, different atmosphere etc might give her a heart attack.
My parents also don't want someone coming into our house (they're very anti-social) :-/
Any advice?
There are no guinea pig shelters in Western Australia that could help either.
I love them, but I really feel like my life is being halted, these are going to be my last pets, but while I have them I want to look after them.
Thanks Flutterby, sadly vets In Western Australia know nothing about guineapigs, I might have to though.

Could you pay at the vets to have her cared for there whilst you go away? They will know how to keep her happy and also give her meds and feed her etc?

It is very difficult if you haven't got much in the way of specialist vets and pet sitters etc. where you live. Flying with an ill piggy is very stressful for both of you and may turn out to be too stressful. I can feel for you; my family is in another country, and leaving ill or frail piggies in the care of others is always very much a leap of faith, even though I am blessed to have access to some very competent people, vets and services.

Perhaps your vet clinic can help you - they may know somebody piggy savvy who is also using them?
