My guinea pigs are both on antibiotics, and they both have soft pointy poos. what should I do? Is this normal? ( they both eat lots of endive and lettuce)

Some antibiotics can cause a digestive upset as they kill off the good bacteria as well as the bad. The best thing to do is stop giving all vegetables and feed them only hay and pellets. Keep them off veg until 24 hours after poops normalise. Also give a probiotic as if t can help settle the tummy. You cannot use poop soup as both your piggies are on medication

Hi

Antibiotics often don't just affect the bacterial infections they are used agains but also the digestive bacteria in the gut that are responsible for breaking down the tough hay and grass fibre and processing the nutritents in the gut that should make around 80% of the daily food intake and that are the mainstay of a healthy diet; not veg, I am sorry to say.
In milder cases, this can soft poos, which normalise once the antibiotic wears off; in more severe cases it can lessen or completely kill the appetite.
