Can you give a probiotic at the same time as an Antibiotic?
Monty has got selective recovery plus which he doesn't like is there something better we could try and he has gastrointestinal Bio-lapis for rabbits is there any probiotics that are better for UTI's?
Would you advise on giving cranberry juice (unsweetened) would that help or is that a never give?
Thank you

Please do not give cranberry juice. It’s too acidic and can the problems worse. Any probiotic is fine to give. My Elizabeth is currently on baytril and I’m sprinkling pro C on their dried food and she is eating it as normal. Ideally, a probiotic should be given 1-2 hours before or after the antibiotics

:agr:

Probiotics should not be given at the same time
as a dose of antibiotic. A gap of 1-2 hours before or after an antibiotic dose is needed.

Probiotic is nothing to do with the illness ie there is no probiotic specifically needed for a UTI. A probiotic helps repopulate the gut with bacteria which is killed off by an antibiotic.
Poop soup is another great way of combatting the effect of an antibiotic.

If he didn’t like the selective recovery, there are other support feeds you can use - critical care, mushed pellets etc

Don’t give cranberry juice. It’s too much sugar (even an unsweetened on) but it does not have the same effect in piggy UTIs as it does in humans.
