Hi

Well, I've finished building my 4x3 grid set up and have very little room at the mo as its taking up most of the floor and the girls are still living in their indoor hutch. I have asked my cousin to build me a table to put the c&c cage on to bring it up to waist height and am continuining to keep the girls in their indoor hutch until the table is built. But, I couldn't resist putting the girls in their new C&C yesterday just for them to spend the day running around. My problem came when it was time to get them back out and put them in the hutch again. The new set up is so much bigger than the indoor hutch and I struggled to catch them. Only managed it becuase it was still on the floor and I could physically get in to get them from the back. So I am now wondering if raising it up off the floor and thereby making it impossible for me to get in there to catch them is such a good idea.

Do others with a 4x3 or bigger c&c have theirs raised off the floor on a stand or table? If so, how do you find it when you need to get one of them out for any reason? I'm also wondering about when I come to clean it as well.

I had the same issue. I was going to have a table with storage underneath but when the plans grew to 4 x 3 I changed my mind. I have to get in the cage to both catch the pigs and clean, so I've kept it at floor level in the end. In theory you could have a table on castors/ wheels so you could pull it out but you would still have trouble cornering your pigs and probably many hours of running round the table. :))

Thanks Flips. I was going to have him build me a lovely table with big drawers underneath for all their food/hay/bedding and toys but after doing many laps round trying to round them up yesterday I think you are right. Back to the drawing board I think. If I am going to keep the c&c on the floor then I'm going to need to rethink storage. I've already got rid of a load of my furniture to make room for the c&c, looks like I need to give up something else to make room for their belongings:-)

I too have mine on the floor - I think it would be too much hard work otherwise as you cant step in to catch them!

Yup I'm another that has to get in to catch them and also get in when cleaning it out, it's one time where being short is useful!

my c&c is not as big 4x2 with a 2x1 penthouse lol i found it easier to block off entrance to the ramp when they are in the penthouse and catch them in there. how about using spare grids? you could usher them to an easy to reach corner pop in the grids (like a sheep pen lol) and away you go? if you use cable ties you can easily concetiner it (sp? sorry rubbish speller hope you know what i mean!) and fold up to go away? i have cable tied about 7 grids together as when my piggies come out for floor time i need to pen them in the hallway to stop them being near the stairs and this works well as it folds out and away quickly and easily! that way you may be able to still have your table for storage? i wish i had storage under mine! i was thinking about getting hubby to build me a table another job to put on the poor blokes list!
