well, as the title states, I waited in all day for the 2nd cage to arrive from Zooplus, and needless to say, it too was broken. much worse than the first in fact, one entire side had broken away. The DHL man felt awful, he offered to take it away for me, you could see without taking the cardboard off how bad the damage was. I told him I'd rather keep it with me as I didn't want my evidence lost!
Anyway I phoned Zooplus, again. They are collecting this one on Monday and will then give me a full refund. I will have to trust that will happen I guess.
I was adament my pigs would be in their new home today, so off to the DIY shop I went. With the help of duck tape, laminate underlay, a waterproof liner, lots of strong wire and bungee ropes the basin is mended in a fashion and securely attached to the bottom of the cage. I have lined the upper layer and made a better ramp, and the pigs are now exploring their new, free, home.
Would post pictures if I knew how!

Oh man! That's awful! Glad you're getting a refund for it...that's appalling.

P.s Best way to post pictures is via photobucket. Just copy and paste the

Sounds like so much hassle! Would be much easier if you build them a C&C cage.

Yes, in hindsight a c&c would have been easier, but as I had a very large cage sat out on my deck, the cage part of which was un damaged, it made more sense to work with what I had. The original reason for going down the cage route was to have a hassle-free home for my boys, that offered them complete protection from my 2 very inquisitive kittens.

Love those cages, unfortunately I wouldnt know if material available here or to do it (I saw a DIY on the net but I am not well with those kind of instructions, not my strong side). OP not possible to get a refund and get a stronger cage?

Oh no what a nightmare! but yay to a free cage in the end! cant knock that even if its a patch up job!

Here is the damaged state it arrived in. the other 3 corners were also damaged, although not as bad as this one. I have padded out this corner before covering the entire base with a tarpaulin, so it is all secure with no sharp edges.
