Another Chirper (video)

I don’t quite know what’s been happening recently, but this is the third piggy to chirp this year, and the second today!

I’ve owned 17 guinea pigs in total (not including the family piggies), and I’ve had 5 chirpers. Missy chirps the most, and then I was woken up in the early hours of this morning by Romana chirping which was quite a surprise! Just now, I had just given the piggies some food and went to clean up, heard chirping and fully expected it to be Missy - but it was Clara!

Unfortunately none of my guinea pigs have chirped (well not in my presence anyway). Your video really demonstrates what it is like. I love the way your long haired guinea pig rushes to see the chirper.

Awwww...I used to have a chirper as well, but she's in guinea pig heaven now (passed away Feb 2017). Her name was Deedee. She used to chirp a lot, like almost everyday especially during the last 2 years of her life. I don't really know what triggers it. I've read in the past (not sure which website) that said they are in trance when they do it. But I haven't really found any explanation. When Deedee used to chirp, her sister Meemee would either approach her when she's not beside her or just stay still next to her. It was amazing when she does it coz sometimes she would do it for a good 5 to 10 mins unless we interrupt it on purpose. Sometimes she would do it in the middle of the night and hubby would wake me up coz it was so loud and he wanted me to stop her.

One chirper can trigger others or chirp several times. I have noticed that I get clusters of chirping, usually set off by my resident chirper.

Awww what a cute piggie

I’ve heard one of my piggies (Ezra) chirp only once. He also did it in the early morning hours,4 a.m. It was cool to see at first but then I really wanted him to stop lol. It’s quite loud. He only did it the one time to my knowledge.

Yeah Missy is quite loud when she chirps I’m like, that’s a beautiful song Missy, but it’s 2am and I have work in the morning
