Happy first birthday Rowan!

From the little 200g 3 month old abandoned piggy, Rowan is now 1200g and has the biggest piggy feet iv ever seen!

She's a bossy madam and HATES a chin rub or to be wrapped in a blanket (in turn she hates soft tunnels and snuggies) but likes to lay on my chest for a cuddle and prefers to sprawl out in the middle of the cage when sleeping!

I do wish I had a bit more time for her and her sister poppet, they are more than well cared for and have everything they could want but cuddle time can be a bit sparse because fudge takes up so much of my time.. it bothers me and I do have my moments of feeling incredibly guilty and wondering if I should be selfless and let them go to someone that has as much time for them as I do for fudge... but I don't think I could trust someone else with my babies. I will continue to do my best and get in as many cuddles as I can!

For today she's had lots of attention and a treat of parsley and pear!

Next it's crunchies birthday!

@Adelle please don't feel that way. I know fudge wouldn't want you to. Sometimes there are certain piggies that take up more of our time for different reasons. Please remember that you do everything in your power to make your piggies happy! You are such a loving and caring owner (in fact one of the most dedicated owners I have ever heard of) that it wouldn't be fair to let someone else take them on and not give them the love and care you do. I know they will understand that fudge must come first and at least they have each other for company. They wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world than with you! Just remember everything you do for your piggies is through love and nothing else. Your not being mean or spiteful or purposely leaving them out, it's just that fudge has to be cared for in a different way to your other piggies, but this doesn't mean that they are unhappy.

Please don't beat your self up about it, they all love you and have the best home they could ever wish for. Trust me there are millions of places they could end up and wouldn't get half of the time and attention that you give to them ❤️

Happy Birthday to the beautiful Rowan. She is a stunner @Adelle . And your piggies have such wonderful, happy lives. Please don't do yourself a disservice. Your love and care are second to none.
 
Happy birthday Rowan - big feet = big personality (or so I told an ex- boyfriend once upon a time ) I have two oldies my nearly 8 and my just over 6 1/2 who HATE being cuddled and chin rubbed - a firm rub behind the ear is all they will allow:mal:
 
Thanks everyone, I think because fudge gets so much care that I feel like I'm neglecting everyone else! Rowan was unhandled when she came to me and she's quite happy to chill with me now but her sister Poppet was one of the worst cases iv ever seen! She was very skinny and came from a hoarding situation. She was so terrified it was unreal, she must have been surrounded by terrified pigs as it seemed to be drilled into her. She was only a youngster so I thought with time she would calm down, and she did a little. But poppet is now 16 months old and still very much dislikes human contact.. its like she's feral! She will tolerate things like nail clips and health checks now but that's really it. I often wonder if I hadn't been so tied up with fudge, would she be calmer now and more accepting of human attention.. but it may be that she was always going to be this way. She gets on brilliantly with rowan and is a very happy girl and popcorn away.. as long as the humans stay away!

This is poppet with rowan. . You can see how she hasnt ran away yet she's holding her leg up like she's getting prepared to bolt and is very unsure!

Don't feel like that Adele, sometimes in our piggy keeping lives we have to focus on one piggy often because of ongoing illness, it doesn't mean you love the others any less or are providing them with any less love, it is just different. Knowing you the way we do Rowan and Poppet will have a wonderful life with you and I am sure Poppet prefers not to be picked up as much :))

I adore Rowans feet :drool:
