hello,

So cutting straight to it, we currently use megazorb for bedding and it's amazing and super absorbent however we use a lot of straw on top and that gets super wet and soggy and when their poo mixes it's not pleasant to clean out.

Do other people use straw on top of the MZ or do you use something else?

We have a herd of 5 piggies who are all living quite happily outside and soon to be having a new house for Christmas from Boyles pet housing. Any tips of bedding would be great.

Thanks :)

Just a note we currently use straw however I've been reading posts on there where people recommend in not using it as it's 0% absorbent, has no nutritional value and is dangerous to their eyes. What would be a good alternqtive on top of the megazorb for example in their sleepy areas.?

Hay is much better than straw

Soft hay would be brilliant.Mine are on fleece with litter trays containing aubiouse and meadow hay

ive used finacard on top of megasorb,as it hides some of the mess and is cosy, then put a layer of meadow hay on top,ive also mixed aubiose in with megasorb, gives a very absorbant, soft bedding, again meadow hay on top.its trial and error to find out what works best for you and your piggies.

I would never use straw...I make a nuisance of myself in pet shops when I see this being used! Straw is too stiff and sharp for small animals, and can cause eye injuries, as you've read. I've just changed from finacard to fleece and my piggies were still wheezy sometimes with it. I now have vet fleece with towels underneath or a washable incontinence pad. I give them untreated meadow grass hay.
