Hi and welcome

I am very sorry for your loss. Are you planning to bury your boy in the garden or in a planter?

I bury most of my piggies in a large planter pot and just wrap them in kitchen paper with a little bouquet tof seasonal garden flowers tied on. To prevent digging up, I keep the pot covered for a while and use ericaceous peat-free compost to help the process along. Later on, I plant the pot over with a suitable plant.
I have also taken my piggies wrapped well in kitchen paper with a sprig of forget-me-nots to the vet's for transferral to a crematorium. They will be put in extra body bags at the clinic for that purpose.

Here is my Tegan (the little baby in my avatar), wrapped up in kitchen paper with her goodbye bouquet of garden plants in bloom in August 2015 just weeks from her 8th birthday.

Here is one of my large piggy planters which I have planted up with shallow-rooted sedum once it was full (I have had quite a few piggies over a long time). A planter has the advantage that you can take it with you in case you move house.

If you prefer a cardboard box, it should be at least 30 cm long to accommodate an adult piggy; a shoebox was ideal when they were still very easy to come by.

A shoe box would be a good size for a piggie. I use a large plant pot. I have one for Bill and one for Ted
