Hi Guys,

So I've been feeding my piggies cucumber and spring greens in the morning and then coriander and Bell pepper in the evening.
I give them unlimited Timothy hay and then they have 30g ish of burgess excel nuggets. I also have some 5-a-day hay but I'm not sure if that is OK for every day (I've attached a pic of it).
I'm uploading a pic of the amounts of veg I'm giving, I've put a fork next to it for perspective!

I really just want to know 1) if what I'm giving is right and if there's anything else I should be doing, and 2) does anyone know about the 5-a-day hay?

That 5 a day hay I feed, its the ranges hay isn't it? It's pretty much 99% timothy hay. Best eating hay you can feed

I think the photo of the veg portion in the guide linked above gives a good illustration of daily portion size for piggies. It’s a good idea to divide it into 2 portions. Just make sure you don’t end up slightly over feeding them veggies this way. The hay looks lovely.

Awesome thank you! They like it and added bonus it smells nice! 🤣
Some are careful with feeding it because of the added stuff in it. But I find it's so little, it don't matter, I've never had a problem with my pigs from it, but I still can't guarantee it

The veg selection and portion size looks good, do you ever change the veg for a bit of variety? What you've shown in the photos looks pretty much what my piggies get daily on average but some days I feed beansprouts, dill or parsley, different kinds of mixed lettuce, babycorn... not every day but about twice a week we tend to mix things up and feed some different stuff!

I have heard that the 5 a day hay is supposed to be good. However, my piggies don't seem to like timothy hay that much :/ I bought them the burgess one and they have tried that one so I gave up trying and gave it to a local rescue as I didn't want to waste money. The only hay they go crazy for is meadow hay

I was a bit unsure with changing it as there is just so much information - they do like parsley which I just swap in for the coriander once a week, I will try them on some baby corn and dill though. I wanted to give celery but I tried destringing it and got really frustrated!

Not sure what they'll do if I swap out the peppers - I have to make sure they get their chunks at the same time as it's the only thing they squabble over!

Thank you so much for the advice, it's really, really helpful 😊

No need to de string celery, just chop it onto small pieces, I think guinea pig teeth are built to cope with grinding it all up, but best to be safe
