I posted last year on how I wanted to find an alternative to using the disposable puppy pads below hay, newspaper didn't work for me - got too wet and didn't want to keep buying and binning other bedding.
I can report that I have been successfully using my fleece liners below hay and as well as being super absorbent, they always seem to brush off well for washing!
My liners were from Ziggys Piggies and I have had them for ages and maybe because they have been used so much the fleece doesn't trap the hay in the way new fluffy fleece might. So over winter my piggies have been living in hutches in a shed, with fleece liners in the main area and hay on fleece in the bedroom and I have had no problems.
So thought I'd pass on the good news if anyone is looking for an alternative! I just use an old small dustpan brush to brush them off and find if you fold the liners first, then brush, hay seems to come off no bother. So will be investing in more liners for sure!
