You know how fleece is an alternative to bedding? Well, I was wondering if there was an alternative to fleece. Not bedding. Not vetbed. I've heard of people using the tile floor. Is this a good idea? There would still be a lot of fleece in the cage. In the snuggle spots, the accessories, etc. My pig will have a lot of room once I get the time to make the cage larger. And of course I would finnaly have room for the litter box!

Thats more aimed at bunnies unfortunately...
Bunnies can be litter tray trained so they don't need a cage full of bedding... Unfortunately guinea pigs pee and poop where ever they get the urge... :)) so litter tray training is near impossible with these creatures... :))

Have you thought of just trying news paper and just rolling it up and binning it every day... It's pretty easy to do... :)

The problem with not having any bedding is that as the piggies run around they will pee on the tiles, if there is nothing there to soak it up then they will end up with wet tummies and all the problems of skin infections etc.

I'm gonna try newspaper with an extra thick layer in the corners because my guinea pig refuses to pee anywhere but the corners. He will have fleece under his hut and hammock and I will have tons of fleece to make cozies and stuff like that.
