As Georgie has sadly passed, I need to bring Mog indoors, I have thought long and hard about this, do i get her a friend and leave them in the shed or do I bring her in?
I have decided to bring her in, I know she will be a lone piggy but she never ever took to anyone but George. She will have lots of company , human admittedly....and with the way the winters are going she will be alot more comfortable in here.
So at the moment she is in the shed alone...I spend as much time down there as I can but I do have to work, I am going to order a ferplast 100 or 120...any ideas which size I need for 1 piggy? also what do I put in the base...have been reading loads and have decided on vetbed, but that will have to wait till next months wages, so can i put newspaper in the bottom and cover with fleece as long as I clean her out everyday?
Sorry to be a pain...but I am clueless on this indoors thing...thanks in advance x

Hello sorry to hear about Georgie.
Have you looked into C&C cages? They're a great alternative to the shop bought cages. Much cheaper and easy to put together.
Have a look at this http://www.guineapigcages.com/ and in the reference housing section.
I use fleece with a towel underneath and newspaper under that then lino. I sweep out the poos and soiled hay every day and change all the bedding every 3 / 4 days.
You'll love having Mog indoors, you can see her all the time.

I would order the 120, she will love the space and it will be big enough for two if you decide on adding a friend in the future.

This cage is 120cm

or you can get the Ferplast 120 for an extra £10

As Katiepops C&C cages are fantastic if you can accomadate one.

I use just normal fleece blankets over old towels and find this works brilliantly for me. I sweep up stray poops on a daily basis and wash the bedding every 4-5 days. If you wash the fleece 2 or 3 times without fabric softener first the wee will wick through onto the towels.

Since having indoor piggies I wouldn't have them outdoors now, I find their little personalities really come out when you can interact with them more.

PS Sorry to hear about Georgie x

I would love a c+c cage, but sadly I have a 13 year old german shepherd with doggy dementia and although for years he has never taken any notice of the pigs I am not sure I trust him anymore...bless he cannot help It (I cannot use apostrophes...why..makes me sound a right numpty lol)and the only place it would have fitted was my spare room which is now inhabited by my niece as she is studying away from her home...so if I had a cage at least I can move it around...and it has a lid xx

Bailey I think you may be right about the 120...she is freerange in a 10x8 foot shed at the moment...

I'd love C&C too but I don't have the space for it in the room my piggies live 8...

You can buy a seperate stand for the Ferplast cage which is great as it has wheels so you can move it around more easily - and obviously the cage isn't on the ground so you can interact better with the piggy.

I was just looking at the zooplus site.....and as I have never shopped there before I get 10% discount too...bonus....I must admit I am so excited about getting her in, just a shame the circumstances were not happy xx

I ordered the 120 cage from zooplus last week . Its fab , really big and nice and sturdy. It came well packaged, I was a bit worried as it was cheap but i would recommend it:)
