When we first adopted Nelli and Lulu they were the happiest little bonded friends. They loved nothing more than to snuggle up with each other and chat away.

However in the past month Nelli has become increasingly aggressive towards Lulu. At first I thought it could be due to heat, but it’s happening multiple times a day, everyday.

Nelli rumbles a lot, but I presume this is just because she is the more dominant piggy. However, Lulu could be across the cage asleep, and Nelli will lunge at her and nip her all over her body for no apparent reason. She also chases Lulu around the cage and the enclosure, just to nip her. It’s getting to a stage where Lulu is so afraid, that rather than making typical submissive noises, she hisses and shrieks when Nelli approaches her.

I know it’s not to do with the space? Because they have a huge space that they roam around all day. I thought it could be ovarian cysts, but she doesn’t display any symptoms. The only thing we have noticed are two lumps about a 1cm down from her nipples.

We also haven’t seen any signs of pain or illness in her. So we are at a loss.

Thankfully she hasn’t drawn blood yet, but she is stepping up the aggression

I agree with cysts, the majority of my sows that have needed spaying for cysts had mammary lumps due to hormone changes. Once they were spayed these softened, shrank and eventually were mostly reabsorbed. Also, behavioural changes is a symptom, and other than the lumps, has been the only symptom many of mine have developed, its well worth having her checked out.

I have the same problem. Until I can get my aggressive one to the vet, should I keep the, separate?

@hoods its better to start tour own thread explaining what’s going on with your piggies.
