Until 5 months ago we had 2 female pigs both of whom were quite placid. They have lived with other pigs during the five years we have had them but the other pigs have since died. In December we introduced 2 new baby pigs. At first Lily was very motherly and would lick them and care for them. Since then she has taken to eating their hair and hissing and baring her teeth at us whenever we come close to the hutch although she is still nice to the other pigs.. She has also lost 100 grammes since the little ones arrived. Can any advise what is going on with her?

Barbering is normal I think, but if she’s baring teeth at them I don’t know if that’s a good sign. How are the babies behaving towards her? 100g since December isn’t a significant amount. Has she been losing consistently since then or put on then lost it again? Have a read of the thread about bonds in trouble and barbering. I’ll also tag @Wiebke @Piggies&buns @PigglePuggle
