hi
i currently have 4 piggies, 2 sows living together, 2 boars living seperatley divided by mesh as they didnt get along too well rolleyes

i am soooo excited as i get my new baby rescue piggy on thursday :(|) and he is to be paired with one of my boars. my dilema is this, the c&c cage they are all housed in has two seperate living areas on the bottom (where the boys are currently) and the girls share the top living space (which is bigger) see pic below of my cage

i would really like the 2 boars to share the top part when i get my new addition as they ideally need more space than the girls but my worry is would this drive my remaining boy downstairs mad to have 2 girls living next to him seperated by only mesh ? would this be too disruptive to him ? if it would then is the space i have downstairs big enough for 2 boars ? I'm not sure of the exact size but each mesh pannel is 14 inches wide and the cage is 3 pannels along and 2 pannels wide on the bottom floor with a ramp up to 3 pannels along but only 1 pannel wide ? any advice is desperatley needed ! many thanks

How about getting the single boar neutered and move him in with the girls?

PS. I love your cages :)

that is my plan eventually but he is too young yet. it will be another 4 months at least until we can do that and then we will probably make a whole new set up for them all as this will be their permenant arrangement then. :)

Ah, I see. Poor little boy :) Could you put something against the grid that he can't see through? Might make it a little more bearable for him?

If you have no other options then I think your single boy will have to go next to the girls. I wouldn't advise putting a recently bonded pair of boys next to girls. Your single boy won't get upset by being next to girls, just a bit fustrated.

I put my single boy out next to the girls in their runs and have found it useful for giving them exercise! He does settle down after about half an hour, but then keeps going back to strut his stuff every now and then. The girls I have are a right pair of teasers, but one of them has got extremely large and needs some exercise, so Woody goes out next to them and keeps her on her toes. The majority of the time they ignore him though.
