Hi guys just wondering has anyone tried fibreplex for thier guineas? The vet was a bit iffy with me they don’t seem to know much about piggy’s seems much better on here to be honest she also said to treat the piggy’s for mites every month…

Fibreplex is absolutely fine to use wheh they are suffering with a mild digestive upset. There are several other types of probiotic also, but as they aren’t prescription medications, you can buy them yourself.
(as you know, you don’t need to treat for mites every month!)

Thank you guys it seems ever since I changed to haybox the piggy’s tummy’s have gotten upset still dark and sticky fibreplex arriving tomorrow but I feel bad as they are covered in poo I think I am going to need to shampoo them all dry them and then apply their Zeno afterwards I’m just worried they are not going to adjust to this new hay as I have about 10kg of it left. The vet said I should not have stopped their veg either but I’m sure this would have only helped the situation they had no vegetables for 2 days and lastnight a small piece of pepper suggested by the vet hopefully things will be ok hopefully they aren’t covered in poo again poor popcorn and marsh have brown stains on their face and bottom x

Which hay from haybox are you feeding?

Stopping veg when they have a tummy upset is standard advice. They need their fibre intake to be increased when they have a tummy upset so you need to encourage higher hay intake

It’s the Timothy hay box blend. Would you advise staying off the vegetables? Have you seen this before and it settle down? Which way would you advise to give the fibreplex? Many thanks x

If it is a minor digestive upset then it will settle when the gut settles. Stay off veg until poops go back to normal.
What type of hay did you feed them before switching to haybox timothy blend? I'm wondering whether for some reason, the timothy is too rich for your piggies?
Are the soft poops coming from all the piggies?

Perhaps you could post a picture of the poops so we can see what you are seeing

Fibreplex is usually given directly from the syringe. You twist the dial round on the syringe to dispense the right amount and then pop the syringe in their mouth.

So they always had Timothy and meadow mix from pets at home but I was worried about the mites situation and pets at home have been really unreliable with stock constantly having no hay in. As far as I can tell it seems all the piggy’s maybe the occasional medium brown poo but mainly all dark and so soft and squishy it’s getting everywhere! X

These don’t even look too bad but they aren’t solid and some stuck on hits and litter box still very squishy but looks slightly better this morning I must say before there were like 3/4 clumps and wetter 🤞

They are usually lighter than this and pretty solid not stuck on stuff and in their feet and fur

I’ve noticed a change in Perry’s poops at times with the HayBox blend. I think it’s because the soft part of the mix is 3rd cut timothy so it’s quite rich. He loves it but he gained quite a bit of weight when we switched to it, despite limiting it. The latest box also has a tobacco type smell so I don’t know if that’s bad. Maybe smell your box, see if it’s the same?

I changed my pigs onto haybox and one of them was doing weird mucus poops for a while after. It's settled down now though and they've both gained lots of weight on it!

Hopefully not lol x

I’m glad this seems to be not unusual then and it settled I will need to watch their weight though x
