I go on holiday on Friday and Pepper has lost 100g this week! I thought he was eating a bit slower this morning. I will attach their weight chart. Should I be worried? Shall I get them checked over tomorrow before I go a away? There is no way I can leave my 87 year old mother-in-law in charge of a sick piggy. My daughter is busy this weekend and my son is on holiday until Monday. I’m really stressed. Advice please. Both piggies seem fine in themselves.

If you can, get him checked tomorrow. It may help put your mind at ease; otherwise, you will be worrying about him during your holiday.

Get him checked and go from there. Try not to be worrying about bridges before you get to them - he might not need any extra medical care from your mother-in-law (you don't know yet).

Hope all is ok 🤞

I actually just want to cry. Thank you for your calming advice x

Just called my vets and they have no appointments as it’s bank holiday. They can book them in next week. That’s no good as I’m on holiday. 😭

He’s still a good weight. Are your scales accurate?
It’s tricky, as it always is with bank holiday weekends, however, if there is nothing obviously wrong there is no justification for an emergency appointment.
Can you get an appointment booked in for next week and ask your son or daughter to take him?

Yes the scales are accurate as they measured the box I weighed him in at the same weight as last week. Why does this always happen before a holiday AND a bank holiday. I think I will take them off veg for the weekend and ask my daughter to weigh them early next week. Thanks ❤️

I have some Fiberplex in the cupboard from last October. It’s been in the box with the cap on. Is this still ok to use? It doesn’t say once open use by ..... on it.

The fibreplex will be fine.

My own (very limited) expense is that larger piggies (1200+) can sometimes show a more dramatic weight loss than their smaller counterparts.
I know it is easy for me to say, but the reality is the vet can't see him and you are going on holiday so try to focus n the positives and not let this ruin your trip.

Will he eat critical care or fibreplex straight from the bowl.
If so maybe suggest adding a bowl of that daily for a few days and seeing if that helps?

Thank you. I will try the softened nuggets in a bowl. I can mix in the Fiberplex too can’t I?
