Hello! I've been mixing around things in the cage since I've been having trouble with the piggies wasting too much hay. I've somewhat trained them not to do their business in the hay. My main concern is that I'm not giving them enough things to do. I'm not sure what to do despite looking at the toy thread, but is there anything that is a hit with your piggies? I've been putting in some cardboard tubes etc, but it feels really empty. Thanks :)

This is their cage (please excuse me if it's messy, about to do a small clean out):

They love tunnels, and most piggies enjoy plain paper bags filled with hay. I suggest more than one hidey in case they both want to hide away separately :) One way of making a tunnel without altering the amount of lovely floor space they have is to make a fleece-forest from one side of the cage to another, perhaps at one end :)

Hello!
Firstly cardboard tubes are the best! My pigs cant get enough of them. I have them around the cage also you can use string to have them hanging for them to play with. It depends really on you budget if that makes sense. There are millions of cute toys to buy your pigs. My pigs favourite is a ball with a bell in it. They are in literally every good pet shop. Hidey houses never get old. ones where they can climb on top and gnaw ect. Tunnels are another big hit for my pigs again in every good pet shop.

For home made ones again tubes are the best. I know some people use paper bags. Personally have not tried that. Another thing that I love doing with my C&C is to build platforms. They adore exploring and jumping on top of the platforms. :)

Peg fleece to grids to make hidey places, cardboard boxes (if you shop at Lidl or Costco or the like, take a few of their big carrier boxes and cut them up), paper bags, soft pet beds (I have a few cheap 'cat igloos' from ebay), shop bought wooden pet houses... Just have fun making hidey places for them and they'll be more than happy with that!

:DSome good ideas for toys on here. As for the hay, you could make hay racks out of those two folded grids under the cage in the third photo. Fix them to the side of the cage with cable ties.
Hay in trays make nice beds, but you don't want them eating hay that they've peed on. :vom:

My guinea pigs love this

Some people have said that they're guinea pigs have somehow managed to get there head stuck? Not sure how because i've personally never experienced that happening, and the holes between are way to small for Amber to get her head through anyway. Maybe baby pigs but no way adult pigs.
Anyway make sure its always packed with hay, I sometimes put like hay and then some kale mixed in with the hay, they push it all around the cage! its great exercise! and also its good for there teeth as they can chew away at the carrot edges of the ball! Best thing ive ever bought! Amber's always turned her nose up at toys and stuff like that but this was a success ;D!

If it looks a bit empty and you haven't got time to pack more hay into it just take it out. I normally pack more hay into one of the holes and pull it out a little at every hole, once the hay that comes with it inside has gone.

Thank you, both replies are really helpful! I'll see about the ball as it looks good, but does the carrot bit contain muesli? Looks a little blurry on my screen so can't get a closeup of it.

They were actually hay racks before, but I had the trays under each of them since they kept spreading the hay everywhere, so I decided to start using just the trays. And don't worry, they don't do anything in there, and if they do I make sure to remove any bad bits ;)

I forgot, does anyone know how to make a door for a plastic bin thing? Preferably without using anything like drills.

I'm not sure to be honest but if it does its only a small amount. The amount that's on there isn't worth worrying about probably not. There's only a small coating and then its just cardboard anyhow.

*Edit, it says in the description "has been made from rich and tasty seeds and delicate hay to form rough edges to support the natural and diverse nibbling need of your furry friend."

:D @CarnivalPiggy I made a couple of litter trays out of plastic containers like those.(Not in use any more) You'll find a craft knife does the job surprisingly easily. I thought I'd need a saw!

I give Kindle cat toys -- little jingly balls or the crinkle ones made of shiny stuff. She loves to play with them. She'll toss them around her house and collect them under her ramp and stuff.
