i have a 18 month old neutered boar and 2 sows both born last Easter. They have lived together since this summer My smallest sow is the dominant one. But lately the dominants has been increasing towards the boar. she always squirted pee and rumbled at him and she chases him and try to hump him. This week I have seen her blocking him in their hideys. Tonight she chases him into a corner. He had no where to run. She put she face right in his. He then open his mouth very wide showing his teeth and making a sound I havent heard before. It was a proper face off. When I ran over to them she backed away from him slightly and rumbled and rubbed her bottom along the ground. The boar is a gentle boy but I don't know what would have happened if I had not ran over. I was just about to go back to work so I quickly divided the c &c cage. Do you think I need to keep them separated. The little madame who is causing all the trouble is very unhappy being on our own

Your dominant sow sounds like my Mooli. That is how he is with Sophie, sticking his face in hers to intimidate her. I have always thought this wAs part of the piggy hierarchy and left them to it but I do understand it is upsetting to watch.

Thanks. Because his a right softy she does push him about. Should I keep a eye on her regarding blocking him in the hideys. I don't what him being bullied

Is she in season or has she hormonal issues? So far, the behaviour is not necessitating a separation, but I would recommend to replace your hideys with some with two exits, even if it is just cardboard boxes with two sides cut off.

I understand your concerns but as long as he is eating and drinking he is not being bullied.

I have changed the hideys. As for being in season I think she must be in season evey day of her life so far. I've have 5 pig in my life, 3 boar 2 sows she is by far the most dominant and fearless one Ive every had

It's either a hormonal issue or she is a very confrontational and dominant pigsonality.
