Went down to the shed today and Wilf was in the bedroom and Archie in the cosy, not at all together. I thought this a bit strange so took Archie out the cosy and he went into the bedroom to get some hay. Immeadiatly there was alot of rumbling going on between the two which stopped for a while and they both sat in the bedroom. I then was washing out the bowl when there was again, more rumbling and teeth chattering between the pair. Archie ran out and was stood outside the bedroom, Wilf then came out and Archie ran into the bedroom. Wilf then stood by the bedroom door and did some strange thing, he sort of puffed himself up, stood up more on his back legs and was swaying from side to side at his back end. ? Archie then ran out and sat in the cosy again. I put the veggies in and then they both sat munching the veggies next to eachother :o Is this the beginnings of a fight? I looked around on the pair and all I could see was what a think was a tiny tiny nick on Wilfs lip, but it was really dry and clean so I dont know whether thats been there for a while and I just havent noticed it. Do I need to split the pair up? With them being in the shed I cant tell if they are having a full blown fight as I'm not permenantly down there. Is there anything I can do to help my boys? :(

All these boys falling out all over the UK! Def. something in the air!

The hip waggling making themselves big dance is definitely the first stages of a fight brewing! Check both of them all over again, just in case -most of the wounds I've found after boar fights have been around the mouth or on the back / bottom.

How are they now?

You could try bathing both of them so they smell the same again and reintroduce on neutral territory - out on the grass is sometimes good as their minds are on food!

Good luck, let us know how they get on

Hi Sophie.

Its all very strange. Its raining down here so they cant go on the grass, so instead I set up the new playpen (its in the same place as it was before, just its metal and higher than the makeshift one, same fleece on the floor, sames toys, hideyholes, everything) in the shed, put alot of timothy hay in both hidey boxes and stuffed the chube with timothy hay as well, scattered their fave veggies accross the fleece (my thoughts were to try and keep them preoccupied with food instead of on eachother) and put them both in. They both ran for the first hidey box and sat cuddled up in their together, no rumbling, teeth chattering or hip waggling, just lots of happy wheeking and Archie came out and even popcorned across the fleece 98) 98) 98) 98) What does this mean? Is it just a problem with the hutch they have together? Very Confused.

An update: the boys have had to been seperated. I've been going down every 15mins to check them, they had been fine, small amounts of rumbling but nothing much. Just been down and greeted by one very angry ball of fluff :'( Boys were not happy at all, Wilf was doing his hip waggling and Archie was rumbling and chattering away, before they both launched at one another. Thankfully I was down their when it happened and removed the pair so no wounds were made but I really dont know what to do :( Wilf is back in the hutch and Archie in the playpen, I dont know what to put them in tonight, whether the playpen will be too cold overnight I dont know. They had been getting along so well, I dont know whats got into the pair. :( Any help much appreciated

Sorry, only just come back on here and seen your replies!

Sorry they didn't continue to get on... is there any way you can divide the hutch with one of the playpen panels, so they can still see / smell each other but not do any damage? Otherwise I guess one could stay in the playpen as long as they had somewhere out of the draught to snuggle up. Poor boys.... how old are they?

Good idea Sophie, i was just about to suggest that also O0
Oh love i'm sorry about the boys.......dam it these boars can be fiesty can't they.... have you checked out the Barmy4Boars web site, it's got lots of suggestions O0
(((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) for you cause i'm sure you're totally stressed out :'(

I had them seperated in the playpen, and all they wanted to do was sit next to the panel snuggled up to eachother but with the panel inbetween 98) 98) 98) 98) I honestly have no idea what to do, I left them like this for a while and assumed they were just having a funny five minutes, so let them back together in the playpen (I was still there watching) and then the whole rumbling and teeth chattering started again! They are both in the hutch together now, and there isnt any rumbling or teeth chattering unless Archie goes into the bedroom and then Wilf chases him out. Poor Archie, I feel really bad for the poor boy :( They seem fine otherwise, Archie has claimed the cosy as his own it would seem and I have put food and hay in both sections of the hutch so they dont have to go together (which they dont anyway, Archie seems like he keeps going in to try be friendly and Wilf tolerates him for a while and then chases him back out) I'm not sure of how old they are, I believe they would be about 5/6months at a rough guess?

Thankyou Glynis, I really dont know what to do with this pair! :'(
