I've have my girls for just under a month now, and I've realized that the hutch I bought for them isn't very practical. It looks really pretty but its difficult to clean, my girls don't use the ramp, and its hard to pick them up when they're in the bottom because I can't reach the back. As a result I've blocked off the ramp and I'm not actually using the bottom anymore because it's so difficult to use, so they haven't got much room at the moment as they're just being kept in the top. Anyone got any advice on what hutch/housing to buy them - I don't want to have to buy another one in the near future! They're kept indoors all year round so any cage would be suitable. Also does anyone know how/where I could sell the one I've got now? Thanks :)

I’ve noticed you’re in the West mids, I have some brand new grids and connectors you can have if you fancy going down the c&c route. I’d be happy to give any advice too on the c&c setup :)
That’s great thank you! I’ve been researching ten this morning an it seems like they’re so much more practical than my current one! I’ve found a nice one I’m going to buy in a few weeks but I could do with a couple of extra grids to make a little bed area! :)

C and c cages are so flexible and you can increase/ decrease, change shape as often as you like. I don’t use a correx base. I use a wooden base made by my OH. But the connectors can go straight on the hard surface with an absorbent layer underneath and you are then sorted. You can get some ideas from this section of the forum Member Gallery: C&C cages/homemade cages

Thank you for the link! I've got some fleece with an absorbent layer which I think should do with some extra towels. My brother has decided he wants to do it rather than me buying one pre-made so I'll have to try different floorings! :)

I have a brand new unopened pack of 23 grids and connectors, they are white. All you’d need extra is the correx :)

My brother has apparently ordered some already (without telling me ) - thank you so much for the offer though!

Ok, no worries. These are some I found online going cheap. Even though I didn’t need any, I bought a load of them because there were some members on here a short while ago after white ones. These are left over. :) Have you decided what kind of setup you’re going for? :)

I would love a c & c but I don't really know where to begin!

Share some pics when you are done

I'm going for a 4x2 cage with a 1x2 loft, maybe expanding if I've got the space! I've also gone for a stand with it (made out of more grids) for some storage underneath :) I'll post a photo when its all done!

It looks great! Have you used liners or just fleece? I've just ordered 60 grids!
Thank you! It’s a fleece liner, so has two layers of fleece and an absorbent layer in the middle. I ordered it from pampered piggies boutique; she does them specifically for piggies and they are incredible :)

I love your fleece set! I'm waiting for a 6x2 from C&C Guinea Pig Cages and will need to order some new fleece for it. Can't wait to get my pigs into their new house. :)

Thanks! Sounds good - I wanted a 6x2 but didn’t have enough room. One of my brothers should be moving out soon so the piggies will have their own room (meaning I can make the entire room a guinea pig palace :))). How many pigs do you have?

I have four sows, in two pairs as they had a falling out a while back. I'm hoping to rebond them once they have a bigger space. :)
