I have one boar, Logan who is just three months old.
At my local Rescue centre they have an 18 month old Boar.
Would introducing the two be a good idea, I'm keen on Logan having a buddy but I'm worried they might fight and I dont want my little Logan to get hurt.

...another question

If we do adopt the 18 month old...

Do pigs respond to their name?
He's called Fudge but we would idealy like to change it, however if they get used to their names It would be too cruel and confusing for the poor guy.

I don't think a change of name is a problem. I have done it with no issues.

Have you spoken to the rescue about whether you can take your boy along to meet his potential new friend. Some rescues will do the bonding for you. :)

Cenci and Moxie were about three months when I introduced them to an older boar and he didn't hurt them. Hopefully they won't fight, but if they do I think the little ones are fast as hopefully Logan wouldn't get hurt.

I don't think they really know their names very well.

Ideally you would take Logan to the rescue to have him bonded there under expert supervision.

I have changed my guinea pigs' names. That was never a problem.

Peeved with JSPCA

Well I'm very annoyed,

went to the rescue yesterday at 1000 they said viewing is at 1400 and I had to fill in a form so I went back later and they said I couldnt even see the guinea pigs they had because;

1) Logan isn't neutured (fair enough he's too young and I didnt want a girlfriend yet anyway)

2)You can't have two boars living together because they will fight

I know the risks and tried to explain that they could live together if they got on and if they met but this woman (who was about 19) was very dismissive of what I was trying to explain and was speaking over me and wouldnt let me even see them, they told me to wait until he's neutured then go and have a look at the girls.

I'm not at all impressed at how I was dealt with and quite upset that they ignored me regarding the bonding of two boars, mostly I'm upset for Logan,
poor lonely piggy he's getting lots of love from us both at the moment though and seems happy enough popcorning around and being generally mental :-D soo cute.
