Hello all,

I am new to this forum and I have a question about C & C cages and housing in general. I have recued a couple of guineas just before Christmas and both are lovely, they were in an outside hutch but I brought them in for the winter and now they have taken over my kitchen! :(|)
I brought a cheap gage with the intention to keep the piggies in the house when it is cold only and now have reached the stage where they have pretty much the run of the kitchen and that is lovely. So my first question is are guineas best kept in the house or outdoors? Obviously I understand that they need a run outside and enjoy a bit of sun and fresh grass, but what about the rest of the time? What is best?
I have been admiring the C & C cages on youtube and the forum and ordered the plastic rather then mesh panels as this worked out cheaper http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294
has anyone used these instead of the wire grids? Are they any good?

Thanks for the advice, x>>

Think the cubes you have ordered may be a wee bit smaller than the usual grids - my grids are 14" square but not 100% certain if these are the same. Also they are coated in plastic whereas the grids are just metal :)

I personally believe it is better to have guinea pigs indoors. They are part of the family so where better for them to live then as family. You get to spend more time with them and see them interact. You can get to know them better. Having them close by means you will be alerted to any signs of illness or changes in their behaviour which could indicate something is wrong. Having them inside means you do not have to worry about them being cold or a predator attacking them either. My five girls live in a c and c cage and I think they are great.

Hi both, thanks for the fast reply, do you think the plastic panels will still the job? I did read the reviews on amazon and people obviously have used them as pet cages but suppose being a new piggie owner (or slave I gather that is what I am turning into) want to get it right. Never realised what brilliant pets they make :)

I use them as a run attachment to my cage and as a barrier to stop them getting under the bed!

I think they are fine, I have cable tied them together and they fold up when not in use (bit round the bed)

xx

This is mine when it was first made:

...you are not turning into a slave, you are one already :(|)

Yeah its really great. Easy to access and clean. Its a bit different now though with everything in it (including the boys). I am still on the blue fleece though and it goes over the correx now. I bought 18 fleece's from ikea for £1.59 each :)
