Hi all,

I've been thinking a lot lately about changing the set up of my animal room
I've got Baby in a C and c cage at the moment and Anya and Aurora also in a seperate set up to Baby.

With the summer drawing to an end I'm thinking about bringing my two outside inside and I want to see about bonding these two to Anya and Aurora, I think it will go well but of it doesn't I have the space to have seperate set ups for them next to Anya and Aurora So that's ok.
I was thinking of bonding them after my holiday which is the last week in September so I can keep a close eye on their behaviour during the day and night for a few weeks.
So I was thinking of bringing them inside and having them set up next to the girls inside before and during my holiday and then attempting to bond them after.

Baby has also got a date with a possible Neutered Male after my holiday and I wanted to set up the area they will be living in before the holiday.

Because the set up at the moment needs moving around in the room to make space for my Pair outside to bond through the bars with Anya and Aurora I was thinking I would set up the area for Baby and her potential Bond at the same time I'm setting up the other area for my pair to live in.

My question is this.
If I set my pair and Anya and Aurora up next to each other,
When and if they bond well in a few weeks in a neural area.
Can I just take the seperate out, change the bedding, disinfect and use vinegar to clean the floor and huts, put down fresh bedding and change the lay out of huts and such then move the 4 of them in without issue?
Would that work?

And could I do the same for Baby and her possible Bond when I bring them home?
Is that enough of a change of scent and moving their stuff around to stop the guinea pigs fighting over territory?

That should be fine. I always move my new pigs into the original cages. I make sure I give it all a good scrub, and put in new/really well washed bedding and make sure it's all set up very differently.

Oh good!
That'll take some of the pressure off :)

I'm thinking of having a 2x4 hopefully 2x5 area for Baby and her Neutered male
I've set up a 2x4 already and I'm thinking I can get another cube in there so ill try tonight and see how it fits with the door to the room!

But if the two pairs make a group of 4 is a 2x6 big enough
As it will be Bear and 3 sows?

And can that 2x6 be changed up so it's the same amount of squares in a different design, so an L rather then a square design?

A 2x6 is good, but if you could squeeze out a 2x7 that'd be perfect.

I think a change to an L shape would depend on the dynamic of the group. If they're happy together then the shape should be fine, but if they're not the best of friends then the congestion that might happen in the L part might cause issues. It's like adding a loft. Sometimes it's fine but on occasion the ramp can cause problems as it funnels them into being close.

Good luck with it all. Hope you can get a lovely herd bonded.

I originally hoped my 4 (now 5) would all live together in my 9.5 x 2 but sadly 2 of the females just wont stop fighting so now I've split it in half and 2 have 4.5 x 2 and 3 have 5x2.
