Hi,

Ok we had Ted and Dougal as an original pair 4 years ago, Ted died and Dougal was tried with 2 males before finally settling with one young male named Ringo (and that took a LONG time). They've been fine for the last 6 months but as Ringo has matured it's all kicked off. Dougal attacked Ringo, cut his back and lip, so we've had to seperate :( Dougal is very grumpy with other boars, he is neutered and I was wondering? Do boars tend to be more accepting of sows? Because we're thinking of getting him a wife instead (I think this has been his plan all along!) We obviously will find someone for Ringo too, I hate to see lone piggies.

Ringo will be hitting his hormonal stage so probably was winding dougal up, i have a nuetered boy with 3 girls and he is so calm and chillaxed and loves each of them to bits, i think you'll have to try him with a female to find out how he will take to her, at first he will be sex mad as it will be a novelty (like in a human relationship) but it will soon wear off (again like human) so i would allow a few weeks to really judge it.

Haha that made me laugh!

Though i think there is a shortage of single sows looking for homes, but there are pairs/groups, would it be an option to put him with a pair or group?

No we're up to 6 piggies now, and 3 rats. We really can't afford to take take any more, or have the time/space. I'm unwell and can only just manage what we have. Plus Ringo needs a friend so we will be up to 8 pigs, which is really more than we planned. However if this is the only option I volunteer at a local shelter for small animals, I'm sure I can ask my friend there to care for the boys for me for a while and do some dating or put them with a group etc (separately). I will see them once a week and pay for their care until we can take them back, wives and all :))
