Got two guinea pigs, coco and snowy. I'm pretty sure they're around two. The past two years have not been the best for them. Previous owners were pretty neglectful and I followed. While I've been caring to them, giving appropriate food and letting them walk around in my room for a few hours a day, I've been neglecting the cage. Was getting cleaned every two months at some point and I'm relatively sure they're ill now. I do want to fix the mistakes and have started cleaning it alot more often, but their health still concerns me. both have slight black parts on the feet (doubt it's skin.) one has a lump as well. I do plan on going to a vet (or will atleast try convince my guardians) but I really don't know what to do afterwards.

Firstly, well done for rescuing them. I am very sorry that you’ve been struggling with keeping their cage clean. The cage needs daily spot cleaning and a full clean at least once a week. What bedding are you using?

Are you sure the black bits on their feet isn’t caked in poo? Harmless spurs? If there are sores and swellings, it could be bumble foot in which case they will need to see a vet for the correct diagnosis and treatment

Why do you think they are poorly? Please do have them seen by s vet if you have any concerns.
