Hello everybody,

I know this probably pops up a lot in here but i believe every case is different, we bought 2 young male pigs from pets at home in october and they was around 8 weeks old so there roughly 5 months old now.

They have been living in a decent size cage since we brought them home until they grow bigger (we plan to upgrade)

Fed, watered well etc , 1 of the pigs has tried being the boss by rumbling and wiggling his behind for a while now but past few days some serious teeth chattering is starting to happen and the odd charge.

I'm afraid for them hurting each other but always seems like the boss pig always starts it by following quiet 1 around rumbling etc and i believe the quiet 1 is now starting to stick up for himself.

Not sure if i should just see how it goes as ive read a few posts about this or try upgrading the cage which would mean putting them in spare room instead of been in living room with us, would hate to seperate them as i believe they should have a companion but if its for the best i will have to upgrade but have no idea on pricing for a grid type cage

Advice appreciated in advance thanks

Have a look at some of the threads on behaviour. Sounds like normal behaviour to me. You may find they are hitting a hormonal stage.

Unless they draw blood I would keep them together

Hi! So far, the behaviour has still been on the milder side.
Please take the time to learn to interpret their social behaviours so you can judge when you really need to step in. How large is your current cage?

Current cage is 4ft by 2ft but we have thought of when we should upgrade

If you can upgrade, fine, but 2x4 ft is compatible with the minimum space for two piggies, so it is not as critical.

If you do upgrade, please rub the cage with the boys' scent and use soiled bedding and furniture at first to prevent any dominance behaviour in new territory, which is the last thing you want a bond under stress go through. I would not recommend to move them to a new location at the moment, for the same reasons. Teenage boys can be so fickle! ;)

Welcome to the forum, can't add to the excellent advice received. Be lovely to see some photos of your piggies

Hope it settles down for you.
