Hi, sorry if this has been covered many times before including by me in another similar post. I've read the bedding link and I think my boys would be best on fleece and or vetbed because of their long coats. Vetbeds on amazon and eBay are a mind field and I've ended up buying the wrong type it's 'vetbed fleece' which I though was just as good as the expensive Vetbeds after reading many things about it but Its clearly not, as I can pull the fleecy stuff off with my hands very easily so I'm not going to use it because they will end up getting it in their tummies :( .
I need to switch their bedding ASAP once they are better because the horrid wood shavings are clearly irritating them and getting stuck to their fur. I was thinking I would like fleece downstairs in their hutch (like I see in the c&c cages) with vet bed upstairs in their sleeping area, but I do not have a clue where best to get it from, I have a new fleece blanket can I use this? I can not pull anything off of it at all and it's very soft, can anyone recommend fleece and Vetbeds that they use and where to get it from please I would be very grateful.
I have a fleece igloo for them but it went bobbly during its first wash and seems a cheap nasty material :(
I need to find bedding that will last, so that once I've brought this bedding I will only have their food costs as my main piggy outgoing
Thank you for reading,
Kell x

I get my fleece blankets from Poundland. They do blankets that are the exact same size as my hutch floors so I have at least 6 that I rotate and wash twice weekly. I put newspaper underneath to absorb.

I only have fleece on the living spaces and then in their bedrooms I have newspaper and hay/straw to keep them warm. I use newspaper and hay/straw in the bedrooms because I change it every other day and I think having fleece in there as well is a hassle to have to keep washing

Hi @piggyfan thank you :) mine is similar sort of thing but I can pull chunks off of it so I'm worried about them ingesting it whilst eating. I will take a photo and post after this one. I'm guessing this make you told me about via the link is not the same.
After doing my daily clean out of their hutch I popped in this new fleece blanket I've got they lived it one even laid down like they do when their relaxed...I think I'm going to use the fleece blankets downstairs and the vet bed on their landing and bedroom :) with towels under it like you said piggyfan.

Also:
I'm making improvements to my hutch at the mo 1st I'm adding a Perspex screen on the top floor so they don't fall down the large gap where the stairs are just ordered it and the pine dowel to hold it in place after reading many homemade cages us Perspex without any issues. Then during the summer I hope to make a big run to attach to the hutch and I've worked out a fab way of safely clipping it to the hutch it will be enclosed and one they can use all of the day (rough drawing added)

Hi Kerry I had a look in our poundland after you kindly gave me the tip before but they don't do them in the one I tried :( but I will keep looking when I'm near another store, I found this one in the photo from an eBay shop it's so soft my boys loved it...bless them I know they hate the wood shavings as much I do. So I can not wait to use it once their better I'm going to give it a wash (no fabric cond) and if it washes ok I'm going to order another so I've got one to wash and one in their hutch, my boys love sleeping under a towel which is fine in this mild weather but I will in the winter they will be have hay to sleep in...could I add hay on top of the vetbed? Is the hay easy to remove from the vetbed when I need to wash it.
@piggyfan photo added..this is what I mean when I say mines not suitable :(

How strange bits come off the vetbed. I have not seen vetbed like that. You can use a brush to remove hay from the vetbed. I wash it and the towels in a horse washbag to protect the washing machine.

Hello,

That does not sound right for Vet bed. We are a UK supplier of it, and ours defiantly does not do that!

If you want to try some more you can get our vet bed here. If you are not completely happy we will refund your money.

We also have clearance vetbed which might be helpful for you.

Thanks

Matt
