I was wondering how other people clean their Vetbed and other material bedding. I've brushed off as much of the hay as I can and picked off the jobbies that stuck to the material. Now I need to wash it all. The last time I washed the Vetbed, I went round the washing machine drum and the inside of the door afterwards with a cloth soaked in disinfectant, thinking of the dishtowels that are washed in the same machine. What do others do? Do you soak the bedding first in something to kill the germs? Until I find out, it's mouldering in a black bag...

Put your machine on the hottest wash after with disinfectant.
You may not beable to do this each time a rinse or 2 with disinfectant will do the job also.

I just wash vetbed at 60 degrees, adding a splash of white vinegar in the rinse to neutralise the pee.

I don't do any disinfecting of the washing machine afterwards.

Thanks, everyone! :) I washed them with vinegar in the water and will give the drum a clean, too. I think I'll also try the nappy sanitiser soak! Belt and braces! :)
