Russell has done very well since his neutering op (3 weeks ago) but today he has started to look very uncomfortable and raise himself off the floor when having a poo. He also makes a noise but its not a squeal. He is eating and drinking normally and happily walks around the room. I hope to get him an appointment on Monday at the vets but is there anything I can do to help him in the meantime. Ive not seen this in any of the piggies I have had.

I know my boars raise their bottoms to poop, and they also sometimes make a noise (also not a squeal) and this has been ongoing for years. Although this happens every now and again, not every time they use the bathroom. The sound almost sounds like when someone pushes out a fart, but my boys do not show signs of discomfort at the same time.

In case he is having some sort of post-op complication it is great to get him in but I do not believe there is anything really you can do until then, that you are not doing already. Is he on any pain meds?

I hope its nothing too serious and Russel has a quick recovery x

Thanks piggl! From what you have described it sounds similar to what Russell is doing. He isnt on any medication right now

I've noticed Cam doing something similar too, he'll go to toilet and raise his bum but without any sign of distress. He doesn't do it all the time, but I've never thought much of it beyond "Cam, you're being weird again."

Poor Russel, perhaps monitor him and see if this is ongoing while arranging a check up. It will put your mind at rest, hope it’s just boys being boys!
