Can anyone please give me some advice...

I have two boars, one is around 2ish (Billy) and the other is 5 months (Watson). Scuffles have been happening recently over the last few days with teeth chattering and chasing and pulling tufts of hair out of each other!

Watson now has a bite mark on his lip. When I noticed this had happened I throughly cleaned the cage, and bathed them both; they already have two bowls, water and hay racks. The dominance behaviour is still happening but no more injuries.

Is there anything else anyone can suggest for me to do to ease the tensions?! I am reluctant to separate them as I know that sometimes they will never be able to live together again after being split.

Also, can any give me any advice on what to do about the cut on poor Watson's lip!? It doesn't seem to bother him and it looks a clean cut. I have bathed with warm water. Do I need to put anything else on it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Fingers crossed they seem to have settled down a bit now. No more biting!

Still wondering if I should put something on Watson's lip though or just leave it to heal on it's own? Any suggestions?

You can bathe his lip with salt water if you wish but if it looks to be healing well by itself i'd leave it to heal by itself.

Regarding your boys all you can do is monitor them. There isn't anything i know of to stop them fighting if they choose tho' it is likely that Watson has hit his hormonal teen stage & this is what's causing the friction. Hopefully all will calm down & remain calm, if it doesn't & they inflict more wounds on one another you will have to separate them.

Good Luck.
