I have two 5 month old GP's and up until last weekend have been living relatively happy Charlie was the boss and Freddie accepted this.

Now things are changing and now there is alot of noise between them both, alot of stand off's between them both and now and then the odd nip from both pigs, this has just started the last few days. They seem to have moments of going crazy chasing, teeth chattering, strutting etc... and then after a while they both go quiet and usually just go back to there house (they both have a igloo each) and go to sleep, then when they wake up it starts again.

I am not sure what to do, I am watching them both closely none of them have any injuries but when should i even consider the possibilty of seperating them as i would hate to do it too soon and not give them a chance for them to sort it out but i would also hate for them to hurt each other.

Any advice would be welcome? I am finding it all very stressfull.

Hi Jacs,

I'm in exactly the same situation, and last night i caught them both up on their back legs at each other etc, but i am not giving in until blood is drawn, they are fine after a little set to so.....

yikes!

Hi there,

I am sorry to hear your in a similar situation too, it is awful isn't it? I am so nervous that they will both end up in a fight and they where such good friends when I got them so seeing this change is not nice.

Hope your piggies can sort it out.

i am also having the same trouble, i have two girls and in the past week or so one has done nothing but purr strut and try to mount the other one. i know that this is a dominace thing but she is at it all the time and i don't think bella is enjoing it very much by all the noise she is making. i'm thinking its bordem becouse they have been in all winter. i am worried eddie is bullying bella.

It's probably more hormonal than dominance. At that age your boars are getting at the hormonal stage, which can upset the balance a bit. Hopefully you won't have to separate them, but if blood is drawn this will have to be the case.

The girls are possibly in season too, which will cause a lot of rumbling and mounting, dominance like behaviour. It should pass in a few days :)
