Hello I’m new here , can anyone recommend some good guinea pig rescues in the Cardiff-Newport or nearby areas in South Wales I’m looking to add to my girl herd but don’t want to buy from a breeder or pets at home
Thanks for reading 🙂

Have you tried our rescue locator? It lists all top standard reputable rescues that we are aware of. It can be accessed in the top bar on a pc browser or by the drop down menu (3 white lines) in the top left of a mobile browser. I have a feeling your nearest will be Glynneath and Suzy will definitely look after you :)

With other rescues local to you, if they aren't on our list then it doesn't mean that they aren't reputable, it just means we haven't had a link in or the opportunity for a staff member to discuss with them their quarantine, vet care and rehoming policies. We can help (and our guides cover) the housing requirements etc. You will want to ask about whether they have quarantined the piggies before putting up for rehoming and whether they have had a vet check. You might also want to ask if they have any information on their background.

Thankyou on the profile of 2 that caught my eye it says they had given birth at the rescue so I assume that they are quarantined?

Yes, a good rescue will always put all sows onto pregnancy watch and assume the worst.
This means new owners aren't left dealing with a surprise litter!

There’s 3 girls I’ve seen and 2 have had babies and one is one of the mums babies I think

Welcome to the forum.
It’s good to see you being careful and preparing well for piggies.
This bodes well for their future.
Hope you find the f helpful and supportive.
We will look forward to pictures when you get your piggies

Hello and welcome to the forum ... lots of friendly and piggy knowledgeable folk on here.
Good luck with your search ... I have met Suzy from Glynneath rescue and she is great.

I wish I was nearer Suzy as she has some real beautiful girls looking for a home but unfortunately she’s around 40mins-1h drive from me

Hello and welxome to the forum.
Piggies will travel fine for 1hr, many people go much further distances to adopt. You may be to far for a home check but rescues will sometimes approve homes by seeing photos of your set up and taliking to you. It's worth getting in touch withh Suzy, she is very helpful. The only place I know of near you that sometimes has Guinea Pigs for adoption is All Creatures Great and Small in Cwmbran.

Unfortunately I can’t travel for 1hr as I don’t drive and won’t be fair for my dad thanks I will call Suzy and see if she knows any rescues near me x

I just googled All Creatures Great and Small website, they don't have any piggies on there at the moment but they would be worth speaking to as they won't be adopting any animals out before Christmas so may not have the site up to date. You could also ask to be informed if they get any sows in.

Thankyou I really want to adopt 2/3but it seems so hard finding a rescue near as I didn’t really want to buy some from pets at home
