Hi, I'm adopting guinea pigs in a few days and decided to join a this fourm.
My only small animal experience is degus (which are very different to guinea pigs).
The ones I am looking at adopting are young (a few months old or younger). I have done a fair amount of research and will continue to do so. Only thing is I am not keeping them outside, since we do get rats around where i live. Anyway any recommendations for a wannabe owner like me?

:wel: to the forum.. How exciting! there are lots of helpful guides on here for new owners... I can't do tags but if you go to the top left under Forums it will bring them up..

Welcome to the forum
You have come to the right place for all things piggy.
Congratulations on your future piggies - it’s exciting news.
We will expect lots of pictures to drool over.
I’m not tech savvy enough to link the threads but on the forum information threads you will find a wealth of information about caring for piggies which is aimed at new owners.
There is information about housing, feeding, settling in amongst other info.
I have 3 sows living in a c&c cage indoors

Having them indoors allows for plenty of interaction and it’s lovely to be able to chat to them as I walk around the house.

Best advice?
Start a vet fund. You never know when it will be needed and vet bills can be high.

Have fun here - it’s a friendly forum

Be great to hear about your piggies when they arrive, hope you enjoy the forum

@sport_billy how do we tag posts? can anyone do it lol?

If that is the case, what you do is you copy the address of the thread or page (the URL) from the browser bar then paste it into your reply

Every page on the forum has unique url as it is a web page. Hope that helps but tomorrow if not I will send you a guide on how to do it.

yes thats what i mean - sorry - wrong wording! :lose:
Never apologise. I find it easier to copy and paste on a laptop rather than mobile device but you can still do it on mobiles
