Hi and welcome

Which country are you in?

Please be aware that a pair of boars needs a 2x5 ft cage as a minimum welfare recommendation. Guinea pigs are ground roamers and need all the space they can get to run around and stay healthy in the long term. Too small cages also encourage bloody fights as the loser of a dominance battle has nowhere to escape, as they would normally do after a fall out.

Please give your boys some huts in a bigger cage, even if it is just a couple of cardboard huts or tunnels. Guinea pigs are not wired to live in an open space.

Boar quartets don't work so you need to keep your piggies in 2 pairs in separate cages. If the new pair is not in good state, please quarantine them in another room and have them vet checked. make sure that you have got the money to pay for any necessary vet cost so you don't become the next owner to fail them.

Please make sure that you sex all piggies upon arrival; mis-sexing is much more common than it should be. If you adopt from the free-ads, you have to be aware that people getting rid of problem pets will go to great lengths in order to do so and will be extremely economical with the truth.

I can't see much hay in your cage; an unlimited supply is the mainstay of any guinea pig diet. It should make around 80% of what they eat in a day in order to prevent health problems from malnutrition like overgrowing teeth, digestive and other health problems and a shorter life span. A limited amount of mixed herb and preferably green veg and 1 tablespoon of pellets per piggy per day are more daily additions to the basic diet. Fruit and tomato as well as high sugar veg like carrots or sweetcorn should only ever be occasionally extra treats in small quantities as they are too sugary and too high in acid and can cause potentially fatal health issues (lip infection, bloat).

Seeing your how you are keeping your existing piggies, do you really have the space, means and experience to deal with more piggies that come with some major potentially expensive problems?

I think that image is the one they've been sent by the current owner, I don't think they currently have the pigs in their possession?

We have the ferplast plaza 160 for our 2 boars if you’re looking for a more traditional style cage. I probably would go for c&c cage though as can make a much bigger cage for the price.

Ferplast Plaza 160 Small Pet Cage
This is the cage we have and it’s a good size
this is a great cage I have one of these cages x

I just got the pair today, i removed the haytrough and added a bunch to their cage on the ground for them. They are both boars, both confirmed and I was shown. The boars are roughly 2 and have been together their wholelives. So that means i have to separate them? They do need a bigger cage, yes, which is why I am asking so I can get supplies this week.

Aww they're gorgeous. You don't need to separate them unless they are fighting. Yes you will need a bigger cage. What country are you in so we know what to recommend

I live in the United States. Not meaning to offend anyone with their cage, i found them on craigslist and thought give IT a try. I know people say they need so much ground on the bottom.

You could use your playpen you have there to make a c&c style cage or join it onto your current cage with the doir open to provide more space. You can buy coroplast (correx) to make a tray for the base (Google building a c&c cage. Do you have any other pets who would jump into the cage as If not you dont need a roof.

As above you don’t need to separate them if they are well bonded. Two boys can live perfectly happily together (I have two boys myself). It’s only if they fall out and have full on blood drawing fights or clear cases of bullying occurs that you separate them.
But yes as you know, they do need a bigger cage. A cage measuring 6ft x 2ft (or a space equating to 12 sq ft)

They are very handsome boys, make sure you give them plenty of hay, it’s their main food x
