The female in question is 13 months old and has always lived by herself. She has been very well cared for and pampered by her owners and has regular "play dates" with other guinea pigs who are definitely female. She is apparently friendly with other guinea pigs and very shy. I have seen in earlier threads where it has been advised to bond the single pig straight away without quarantining as they are by themselves. Family seem very kind and only want what's best for her and seem to be very genuine.
Many thanks,

You only bond straight away if they’re younger than four months. Even though she’s been alone I would still quarantine her for two weeks (different room). It’s good that she seems to get on with other guinea pigs. But play dates aren’t really an indicator. Hopefully she will get on with yours. Just follow the guidelines for bonding and leave the rest up to the piggies. All the best.
