I have been thinking of adding a second floor to my cage and I'm not quite sure how...down side would be i would have to leave the top on all the time when I'm not home but i think it would be fun for the pigs! any advice/ideas? here is what cage i have:

do you think its possible with this cage or get a different one?

thanks!

I didn't even see the typo! Silly brain autofill! So does the cage open up completely from above? A second level might be fun, though my two guineas never bothered with the top level when I made one once, just used it to hide under! Even when I put their dinner up there they just reached up awkwardly and snaffled whatever poked out enough! Silly fruits.

If you make one it will have to be something nice like a hay den or super snuggly fleece area or something. Depends on what size upper level you were thinking!

i was just thinking a small one so they would have something to do....i have had to start limiting there outside of the cage time bc someone (Wiley pig) decided she liked chewing on cords! and the time of day i have time to let them play they dont always want to come out and are napping zzz

and yes the top comes completely off and I have left it off before and found an escaped pig! she crawled from the cage onto our kitchen island :P

The sides on Midwest cages are pretty flimsy. I don't think they can support any weight.

Can you find C&C grids and make something like this?

Here's an idea for 1x2 C&C loft. Build the shelving part like this.

Then make a coroplast tray and ramp. (The ramp should have sides, I didn't draw them in the model.)

Then slide the midwest cage under the loft.

See this gallery for ramp ideas.

Another idea is to buy another midwest cage and put on top of a coffee table. Make a ramp from the top cage to the bottom cage. You can probably drill holes in the coffee table to attach the ramp.

those are so awesome! thanks for the great ideas! my bf said definite no to the second one and doesnt want me to go with the first one either but i will work on convincing him :))

Wow! I'll keep this design for myself. You've made it look so simple

woah.. lissie's got some SKILLZ!

Oh poo poo to the boyfriend! Why are they always so stingey?

I saw C&C grids for £3 a square at grendle enterprise. 10 would be £30. Though I'm sure you could find that cheaper.
