Hi all!

So a few months ago I made the switch to fleece bedding and I'm so glad I did! I've never seen the boys and girls popcorn so much and apart from baby Howie (I say baby, he's 5 months now!) loving to have a burrow as often as he can, it seems to be pretty clean and tidy.

Since then, as well as improving my limited sewing skills, I've made cage liners, hay bags, pee pads and cuddle sacks! I am loving it!

So I just wandered what other ideas/suggestions you guys have for fun things to make from fleece that your piggies enjoy that I can have a go at.

I also love the fleece, but I am not able to sew...
you can sew tunnels and cushions for sleeping, there are tutorials online. Try to have a glance on Pinterest, there are a lot of ideas.
Sheldon is so cute!

I am such a novice with sewing too but geting into the swing of it now! I'd forgotten about tunnels. That may be my next project! Thank you!

Sheldon is a sweetheart. She's the most affectionate of the 4 piggies too - very cuddly! :)

I'm a fleeceaholic, ive so much i need to off load some !fleece forests are good, mine love to zoom through them.

I've seen so many home made piggy items on here lately that I'm going to get a sewing machine. Never used one before but it will be fun to learn. I want to make so many fleece things!

I'm loving fleece too! I only took up sewing about 6 months ago, but was getting a bit bored of it until I got my piggies last week, and now I keep looking for stuff to make! I've just made a new liner for my new c&c cage, I made a bed a few days ago, I've made zorb pee pads and tomorrow I'm going to make a cushion/bed. I can't stop! At least my sewing machine is getting some use now lol

I am a fleece addict. Hand sewed a few cage liners. Getting to grips with how to thread a machine. First ever try went well until it was time to sew. Machine couldnt handle three layers of fabric ...

Would love to see pics of your efforts.

I've literally strates sewing because of my piggies! What better reason!

Will try and post a few pics of some of the bits I've made...the sewing isn't the best but luckily my pigs aren't judgemental.

I am quite proud of the hay bags I did last week though.

Going to tackle the tunnels on the youtube clip posted earlier. Been on ebay buying the material already!

Thanks all!

I totally get that. I spent most of my evenings this week making things. Your bits and pieces are fab! I posted this a few days ago - a settee! It's just four pieces of foam covered, then hand sewn together, then another piece for the seat. If you try it, I would recommend securing the foam in place with a couple of stitches.couch.webp

gorgeous and practical! what a great satisfaction for you!
(I am only able to knit...:hmm:I have knitted a little mouse-toy for a cat but for piggies knitting does not work, they would destroy everything... I should learn how to sew...)

wow!! it reminds the little sofa (toy) belonged to my daughter: it was similar to yours and my former piggie used to rest on it:luv:

Aw...Ugo was such a cutie.

I just have a little Janome machine that just about manages fleece and zorb and it's really simple to use. If I can figure it out it must be simple!

Just been to The Range. They have a sale on and picked up some fleece blankets for 1.20 each and some step stools for fleece forests at 3.49 each! You've all inspired me so I'm in for a busy weekend!

Ooooh I'm off to the range this afternoon!

We drilled little holes and threaded through string to make little curtain tracks! A bit experimental! Piggies are busy eating their veggies under there as we speak!

I just bought a sewing machine! So excited to get it set up and started. I'm a complete novice but hope to get lots of practice in.

I'd like to make cage liners for the new C&C cage when it's done. Are the cage liners absorbent? Does anyone have a good instruction guide to show how to make one?

The first cage liner I made, I used a towel as the middle absorbent layer, it worked ok but not great. But then it was a really cheap Ikea towel so maybe a thicker one would have been better. I made another one yesterday using a quilted mattress protector as the middle layer, fleece as the top layer and the bottom layer is a waterproof terry towelling mattress protector. Seems fine so far, but only been using it since yesterday. Feels better than the other one though. I'd like to make one with Zorb but it's expensive so want to make sure I'm good enough at sewing first so I don't mess it up lol

For instructions, I typed cage liner into YouTube and I think it was a video by "squeak dreams".

YouTube has heaps of tutorials for cage liners and pee pads. I started of with pee pads first and I am working my way up to the cage liner slowly, I somehow find the cage liner a bit daunting lol.

My cage liners are fleece, then zorb, then fleece again. They're good with pee pads in high wee areas for 2 or 3 days before changing. Howie needs an extra layer or so of fleece as he's a messy little 7guy and likes to burrow and pee under the liners! It's a good job he's cute!

Zorb is expensive though. Keen to make a few more liner sets as washing all the time but with 4 piggies and 2 floor levels per pair that will have to wait a little while! Its quite thick for my sewing machine too with the zorb and fleece layers so I'm considering upgrading to a bigger machine!

Fabric has arrived for the tunnels though so excited to get going on them!

Gpod luck with the liners!
