Early yesterday morning we introduced a new baby male pig (Jonathan) to our 3 year old male (Harvey).

Harvey has spent some time alone since his buddy Batman passed away, during that time he has been more affectionate to us; coming to us for pets, talking, coming to us when we ask, ect.

Since bringing in Jonathan, Harvey does not come to us, isn't interested in pets and doesn't verbally respond to us anymore. Is this because he is upset? Does he just not need us for socializing anymore? Or should we be worried?

The two are getting along okay, Jonathan is super squeaky and seems excited about his new surroundings and follows Harvey like a lost puppy. Harvey seemed happy at first but is rumble strutting almost all the time now. Aside from that, there hasn't been any aggression. Is this normal for him to be doing over 24hrs later?

Rumbling isn’t aggression. It’s their way of asserting dominance. It will take two weeks for the hierarchy to be consolidated and that’s normal.

As for Harvey, he’s just happy with his new friend. He was ‘putting his needs’ in you while single but now he has someone he can communicate with in his own language. It’ll be fine 🙃
