Hello, I am feeling absolutely awful at the moment, I was tending to one of my piggies as he had poked his eye (hay poke I think) and he was clearly in soke discomfort and had not properly clipped the cage shut in a rush (it was shut just the clips not comepltely down). When I turned back around my other piggy was running around the room with my dog patiently sat in the corner however I obvisouly panicked and grabbed the piggy as quickly as I could. As I picked her up I squeezed her probably slightly too hard in the panic. She seems okay at the moment and has eaten some veggies and walked skeins her cage, now having a nap. Should I be worried or is there anything in particular to look out for?

It would not be possible for us to say given we don’t know how hard you squeezed, but I wouldn’t think you squeezed hard enough to do damage. Do see a vet if you are concerned though, as I said, we can’t know what actually happened.

Has your piggy seen a vet for the haypoke? Eye injuries are considered urgent and do need to be seen within 24 hours for the best outcome.

Thank you for your response, I think it’s just over worrying to be honest as she seems comepltely fine and I’m sure more heavy handed people would do this regularly. I usually don’t have to struggle to pick them as they just walk onto my hands which is where the worry is coming from I think!
In regards to the hay poke he has literally done this about 45 minutes ago, he’s had some eye drops which were still in date from a previous hay poke (he seems prone to this!) and will be going to the vets tomorrow whilst closely monitoring overnight😊
