Hello I'm about to make some fleece cage liners for a 2x5 c&c cage plus loft and am not sure whether to make the liners waterproof or not? Can I ask what pros and cons you have found and what inner you would recommend? So far I have only found some incontinence bed pads on amazon that might work well. If not waterproof can I ask what inner you used and whether it lets a lot of moisture through? Many thanks x

The point is that the urine passes through the fleece, being sucked through by an absorbent layer. If you are going to add waterproofing then put that on the very bottom to stop it soaking through to your base although that isn't necessary.

I have a 100% cotton mattress protector chopped down to act as an absorbent core. I got it from TK Maxx.

Hi there - thanks for replying- I should have put I the title absorbant or absorbent plus waterproof - sorry my mistake. Do you put anything under your liner or is it fine on its own?

I have a plastic based cage, !ike a giant hamster cage. I use fleece zorb fleece and fleece cotton mattress cover fleece.

I tried incontinance pads but found them too heavy and bulky.

I dont use a waterproof layer. I also put lots of little mats in high use areas eg by water bowl and by any food areas and hides. The mats are mini cage liners and microfibre bath mats.

I love fleece patterns such fun!

Thanks for the replies - I've ordered a cotton topped mattress protector so fingers crossed x

I have a cage made of coroplast; inside I put a towel, some newspapers and upon them the fleece. The urine passes through the fleece amazingly and only the first pages below are wet in some spots. Easy to clean; I just need to change some newspaper in the morning (I use flyers of supermarkets) and there is no smell at all. Once a week I wash the fleece... which comes out of spin dryer almost dry.:)
Pigs have a soft floor for running, the cage is always clean and bedding is free of charge
