Hey all

I have found what was initially a small scab with a bald patch on my 3.5 year old boars right side. I cleansed the scab off and found lots of pus and a lump. I managed to squeeze enough of the pus out that there is no lump left. I’ve read up that abscesses don’t go away on there own and have booked a vet app. This is not until Sunday, (5 days away). Can anyone advise if this is an ok length to wait and anything I can do in the mean time. He didn’t react in pain and the pus doesn’t smell. I have since cleansed it with saline solution. I appreciate I maybe should have left it and not squeezed but the nurse in me was too curious 😐.
Thank you ☺️

It may be a cyst instead if it didn’t smell, abscesses usually smell really bad and have the consistency of cream cheese. if you can’t get to see a vet sooner then keep it clean with saline solution for now. if the area starts looking infected I would try and get seen sooner if you possibly can

Thank you for your reply. Consistency was very thick and white, like paste. No sign of infection thankfully and will definitely keep a close eye on him until his visit ☺️

Fingers crossed it was just a cyst... abscesses tend to smell really foul due to infection. Hoping the vet visit clears things up for you! In the meantime, just keep an eye on it and keep the area clean!
