Alright so heres the story,

I have two guinea pigs, Alexander and Louy.

When I got Alexander, he was very easy to tame so I didn't need to worry about him.
However, I am having a difficult problem with Louy.
Louy is a tiny part abyssinian guinea pig (assuming hes abyssinian because of his short fur texture). When I got him, I recently found out he was only a few weeks old (I got him around this year in January). I was thinking like "Well maybe when hes old, he will get out the habit of being a little hyper guinea pig".
However, he is the same hyper guinea pig today.
I always thought since hes hyperactive, I thought he might of been biting us by mistake.

HOWEVER, I figured out that he is very territorial. He is afraid of mine or my family's hands petting him. When I tried petting him, he tries to attack my hand by turning his head around his side.

I was hoping if theres a way I can try to tame him or let him know that he shouldn't be afraid? If there is a exercise I should do, how many times should I do in a day and how long should I do this exercise? I know he can still be a sweet guinea pig but something in me is telling me that I am doing something wrong.

I keep my hand in the cage and put it up to there face so they know my smell, and pick them up in a fleece/hidey and put them close to you. I bathed MoMo and cuddled her closely till she was dry and since then she's been so different and lets me stroke her when she's eating hay and just playing in the cage x

I have two male Abyssinians that were born in January. Only recently have I been able to pet their heads when they are in their cage. They used to wheek like mad when I tried to pick them up or put my hands in the cage. Now they come out and stare at me until I give them a good head scratch. I feel like its important with any (domestic household) animal to not show fear. He's testing the waters. When mine acted like I was bringing doom upon their home, I just asserted myself as their alpha.

Hi! Here are our guinea pig whispering tips. Please be aware that guinea pigs are not natural cuddlers and that by far not all will ever come to enjoy being cuddled. Your little aby boy is also now at an age where he is a hormonal teenager (between 4-14 months old), so he is no longer a cute little baby; he is testing his limits, which is normal for this age. Use the piggy whispering tips to assert your authority in piggy body language, but also give him plenty of love. As the lead piggy you can set the standards as to what is accepted behaviour in your group and what not - simply by praise or by making a disapproving sound (like uh oh).
